HEROES BEFORE OUR TIME.

      A hero as defined by Marian Webster  is someone who fight for a cause. In drama, it is the principal character in a play, movie, novel or a poem. If you were born in the 80's just as me believe me you have no idea of this great heroes in Africa and what they have done for Africa. This heroes fought with their blood and made Africa a proud land today. In this piece of work and the subsequence ones to come will high light on some Hero's of Africa before our time.
      He was born on 4th September 1848 to a father called George and a mother called Rebecca. He was born in Chealsea Massachusetts and he was the youngest of his siblings (4 children). He was born in the era of slavery. His father and mother were slaves from Africa, his father was been own by James B. Gray of Virginia and the mother another slave master. His father and mother met only when their slave masters go to bed or when their been sent on an errands hat was the only time they see each other. The slave masters got to know of their relationship and  desired to legitimate it. Out of this his siblings were all born into slavery. His parents run away and settled in Boston where he was born.
      At the age of 15, he was recruited into the American Navy as a geographer(landsman) and was discharged after 2 years, later he gain an employment in a patent company where he drew things that has been invented, he became the best in this field. At the age of 25, he got married to Mary Wilson on November 15, 1873. A year later he co-invented an improved toilet system (water closet) for rail roads cars. He later was employed by Thomas Edison at Edison Electric Light Company where he invented a carbon filaments for light bulbs and later became a co- owner of the company. He fell ill and died on 11th December, 1928 in New York City at the age of 80. Today he is an inductee of the National invented Hall of Fame for his work on electric filaments on  manufacturing technics, He is been named after a museum and  a street in New York City. Our Hero for today is Lewis Howard Latimer.
